Other than money, I can't understand why he (and other British players) don't try their hand abroad more.  He's done his time at Chelsea a move to Italy would be great at this stage of his career.  Shame to read today that Scolari has said he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge, was looking forward to seeing him compete in Serie A.

Who was the last England player to play in Serie A?

Gazza or Platt I suppose?

Not forgetting Des Walker!  He was at Samp for a while.

Oh and that ex-ox player Davies - did he get a game.

Also that Boothroyd was at Perugia for a while.

Was Ince still in the England team then? I meant current international rather than English player.

I don't think it would do our national team any harm at all if a couple high profile players tried their luck abroad - Lampard should go in my opinion - he's kissed the badge of two clubs already, he might aswell make it three.

Yeah, hated by England fans.

Thats because the Premier League is rammed down our throats constantly and we're led to believe its the best league in the world, so we see players from other leagues (excluding probably the best teams from Spain and Italy) as inferior. Fact is as most of us know, Premier League is a cash swindling non entity for most teams except the top 3. Liverpool aren't good enough.

Back on track, Lampard should go to Italy as it'll be better for his career, less media pressure from here. If he plays for Inter and they do well we'll assume he's playing alright.

i've always wished we'd see a few more english players abroad.
beckham and owen, notice im not mentioning woodgate, out in madrid was quality, good to see them having a go at it in a completely different environment.

lampard to inter would be a good move for him and for england i recon.
