Just finished re-watching Prisoners. As good as I remembered. Paul Dano is fucking superb, as is (and I had to look this up) David Dastmalchian. They both play creepy so well.

Murder on the Orient Express with Albert Finney as Poirot. I felt a bit lost at first but it was fantastic when it all came together.

Also the Avicii documentary on the iPlayer is excellent. The music is pretty horrendous but his craftsmanship is incredible. He was a music producer and DJ and the doc shows him from bedroom to stadium, whilst he gets into social anxiety and alcoholism as a coping mechanism. It's tragic but the story and journey rapidly develop as he blows up and there are some great moments, like Nile Rodgers working with him and waxing lyrical about his musical ability being on a par with MJ. And when he's doing a song with Chris Martin and Avicii asks him what he thinks of his new tweaks to the track, Martin just turns round flabbergasted, "Dude, you're SO talented!", and Avicii shyly laughs. He died at 28, did himself in with a red wine bottle in a hotel room in Oman.

Just watched 2001 A Space Odyssey for about the 5th time. Total fucking genius. 51 years old. How the fuck you take the Arthur c Clarke short story, classical music, special effects and minimal dialogue and make something so good is beyond me. Stanley Kubrick struch genius on this one.

Here's a list of Kubrick films, ranked, unsurprisingly 2001 comes out on top....

Just watched Fargo the film. Those wood chippers are dangerous fuckers!

Saw the TV series a while back with Martin Freeman.

Enjoyed both.

Never really got into myself either and got me thinking of films that get cracking ratings that I just couldn't abide.

Tree of Life - the only film I have ever just turned off and refused to see it through to the end
Solaris  (2002) - wish I had the where with all to do the same, but saw the end credits on this one, hated it, although to be fair it got mixed reviews

You'll struggle to find many I reckon. My wife  half fancied going and did a straw poll amongst 8 of us. 7 couldn't stand him and said no, and my wife doesn't like him much either. By contrast everyone went to see the Queen one.
