I've started reading this based on your summary. The first sentence alone pretty much had me hooked.

I just had to take a look to see what it was, assuming it was space jargon. Smiley Whatney's character and humour makes the book.

The humour is what makes it for me too (although the geeky stuff is good too). The "Look, a pair of boobs --> (.Y.)" line actually had me laughing out loud.

Yeah, there's quite a few of those laugh out loud moments in his logs. I remember laughing at a few things Annie said too.

Just seen Sicario and enjoyed it immensely - albeit a bit brutal.

If you like US v Mexican drug cartel type films it's a definite go-see.

Emily Blunt very good.

No Country For Old Men was good, I might look this one up. Cheers.

The Martian was superb, best film I've seen in years. Got Sicario lined up for tomorrow

You're guaranteed to enjoy Sicario. Really tense motorcade scene early on and a thumping soundtrack that reminded me of the opening of Black Sabbath's Iron Man.

Well worth £6.75!

Kajaki is a harrowing British war film, well worth a watch.

Watched this last night. Amazing production and indeed very harrowing. The sad thing, it's a true story. One of the best horrors of war films I've seen.

So Mockingjay part 2 was pretty damn good! Pretty sure I would not understand these films at all if I hadn't read the books though??!

'Amy'about Amy Winehouse is worth a look.
Not surprised her dad was outspoken against it though as it doesn't paint him in the greatest light.

Anyone seen Black Mass yet?

Supposed to be on a par with Goodfellas.

Yep saw it earlier in the week, it's very good indeed but on a par with Goodfellas?

Not a chance
