Watched Legend with Tom Hardy the other night.
Pretty good, you really do forget it's the same man playing Ronnie and Reggie

I'm really looking forward to seeing this.

Doesn't he play for Manchester United?

I think they spent about 50 million on him.

I've decided to read the book first. I'm never sure whether you should read the book first or second.

The Firm is supposed to be a good film, but I'd read the book first so thought the film was crap. The same is true of almost every book, so should films be watched first so we enjoy both?

I'm assuming that's The Firm with Tom Cruise, rather than Paul Anderson (which was also pretty crap)?..

The film is utter toss and is absolutely no credit to Grisham's brilliant writing.

But then you'd ruin the book because you'd roughly know what was coming.

I've finished reading The Martian, I know it's the wrong thread, but it's kind of right.

Anyway, I fucking loved it. One of the best books I've read in a long time and I think space geeks would enjoy the problem solving required of the lead man.

In a nutshell. Although I've not read a Grisham since The Associate, which is one of the shittest books I've ever read. It's like he got bored and tied all the exciting threads up by treating the reader like an idiot and pretending they didn't exist.

Saw Everest at the weekend. Enjoyed it, I don't remember any of the media coverage at the time (I was 12...) and had tried to avoid as much of the press and reviews before watching the film. A good insight into why these folk do what they do, but I still don't fully understand why.

I've started reading this based on your summary. The first sentence alone pretty much had me hooked.

If you read, look up up John Krakauer's 'Into Thin Air', great book. He was a journo on that expedition.

Watched Kenneth Branagh's 'Henry V'. Never liked Shakespeare since bad experiences studying English lit at school, but it's a great film, completely passed me by until now.
