Strong sources tell us this evening that Dion Donouhe is on his way out of swindon, due to family reasons. Contract will be terminated and a league 2 club who is closer to his home, have already made contact with Dion about a contract. #STFC

Depends on where his "home" is, if it's back in North Wales the the obvious L2 option is Tranmere, possibly Port Vale. For closeness. Can't be Newport as the trip would be almost as long as being at any club in the W of England. I would fucking laugh if he is on his way to Salford, would take the reason totally out of it.

Family reasons is a coverall bullshit reason. He only signed a contract in September. He had plenty of time before that to sort out his ‘family reason’ with another club.

How convenient he has a ‘problem’ and another club can offer him a contract.

Salford here he comes.

I hope this isn't the case both for him and the club. Think he was in last chance saloon with us and we have persisted with him through his 'difficulties'. I would have thought he was now a saleable asset. So to cancel contract would seem to be a short term wage bill reduction, but a long term financial loss. When I say 'long term, the transfer window opens in less than a month!

Blessing in disguise in my opinion. He has been poor and a huge weak link apart from the odd game

He’s first-choice left back for me, therefore it will be a significant loss.

All about opinions, find him to be slow and stands off far too much because of that. Be interesting to see how many goals have come down that side.

Its a bit odd as we aren't blessed with a big squad (with injries). Of course personal reasons can come into it. But who knows what is going on in a persons life (or CT: how big his wage is).

If true I hope we have budget for a replacement.

Why would we let him go for free? He's under contract right?

Can't imagine his wages are outsized for the team, just because he signed so recently that it would have on post-pandemic budget. But obviously don't know that for sure. An odd rumour anyway - and another player we can't really do without.

I agree with the short sightedness of this, if it is family reasons, give him a few weeks off to sort, then either sell or loan him out short term once the window opens in 3 weeks time.
If he has already found himself a new club then that is extremely fishy and the club should stand firm and say have some time off for your family, we have stood by you through your problems now is the time the loyalty is repaid.
