Grounds played with Caddis at Birmingham so maybe there is a link. Maybe there are concerns about Baudry being fit consistently enough so with Grounds it allows us to gave an experienced option at any time.

Feel a bit sorry for Broadbent as he did bounce back from the Colchester game last year. That wasn't really his fault coming on to replace Baudry when we were chasing the game and not to his strengths.

Was it Mansfield at home where he came on last 30 mins and we went 5 at the back and got his head or a foot on everything? He has a role to play but maybe deserves regular football.

From the Brum forum.

Quote
Wasn’t keen on Grounds at LB. Thought he was better at CB but a wholehearted player who gave his all.

Not suprised about Grounds been out picture for last couple of seasons but a good servant for us.

Jonathan Grounds: Who? Oh yes, I remember him. Hang on, who?

I always thought Grounds put in a solid shift for us. Been out took long tho now

Jonathan Grounds - ordinariness personified

From what I read I understand hes is very similar to Jamie Vincent, same build, size, height and age when signing for Town, started his career LB was used as a fill in at CB which he prefers but has moved to LB again later in his career, will give everything he has got without being outstanding, just a solid performer.

A decent utility defender for L1 if he can prove his fitness.

Is a threat from set peices and adds a fair bit of extra height to our team when he is picked.

1 min 50 secs in.

1 min 25 secs in.

Good signing for that level.

I keep hearing about Anthony Wordsworth coming to us. I think hes probably too old now.

Nixon saying Joel Grant should be signing

Swindon. Joel Grant should sign up. Free. Extra competition for wide spots.

So does that just leave us looking for a Doughty replacement?

I can see there being at least 2x CM coming in, we have lost Doughty but we needed one before that. It also looks like Palmer is on his way out.

I honestly feel  with Palmer going and doughty gone, we need 3 in. 2 to replace the departing two... and  Lyden is great but made  of glass and judging how relentless this seasons schedule is, it won’t be easy for him.
