Won’t it be nice to actually discuss a player we’ve signed instead of one who’s left.

Some names bandied about would make me forget about those who have departed.

If we’re waiting - as the majority of clubs are - for the salary cap to kick in before signing anyone, then at least we’ll all be in the same boat and players won’t just follow the money.

Absolutely it would.

I think Donohue will sign this week, Grant will make his decision as if he doesn't come back on the 1st day of training then we can logically assume he won't be signing.

There will be numerous players on trial in the next few weeks but whether or not we will have the funding to actually offer them a solid contract I am not sure, unless Power has a new source of income, I expect many transfers will take place as near to the end of the transfer window as possible to save on us paying their wages during the close season.

Not as much of a play maker as Kasim was, but breaks up play and wins the tackle as much as anybody I've seen in that position. So strong.

Keshi is one of those players who has promised so much ever since he signed from Palace but has never really lived up to the potential we thought he had.
Definately so on both points.

Well, the 5th August is the last day before the cap kicks in which then only leaves 5 weeks before the first game. Surely the squad needs to be together well before that.

Even OOC players are still being paid by the existing clubs until 31st July.

As I said before, I’m not certain it’s the unwillingness to pay the going rate but the actual length of the contract. I expect we’re offering, at best, 1+1 but Doyle et al are getting 3 year deals - no questions asked.

The club must come first - not any one particular season. Whoever we end up getting I’m sure we’ll still be in L1 for the following season.

Not sure how much notice we should take of Nixon but he's just tweeted that it's 'looking optimistic' that we'll get a deal done with DJ.

If so, that would fit into my ‘couldn’t give a fuck who’s left’ attitude.

I think Grant will be at Swindon for the first day of pre-season training and the revisionist "he was never any good anyway" comments will have to be revised again.

Brilliant wasn’t it. Nobody says anything negative about his ability during his time here and then in the last 24 hours the comments start to flow

Some fans crack me up

If he signs that would be as good as it was bad losing out on Yates. That would be a huge positive for the coming season. Fingers crossed.

I'm not sure anyone has said anything negative about his performances for us last season? I mentioned he hasn't been a force at league 1 level for a while (2 seasons?). On reflection that was harsh. We'll see.

Would still love him so stay, but I'm not overly gutted about any one player leaving. We built a good league 2 team. Now we need to build an average league 1 team. They may not be the same team.

I love the way that you can type so fast with a prodding stick on your forehead and drool on the mobile screen..... Wink

I genuinely do despair at some of our fans public posts on various platforms.

I said the same thing to Tans yesterday, our fans seem to be amongst the worst in terms of going into a full on meltdown when a journo posts a rumour. Some are like trying to reason with Piers Morgan....

They're not, you're just more exposed to them and care more about the subject matter they're posting about so you notice it more.
