Apparantly we have found some, I have heard that money is there if Wellens wants to sign Doyle and Grant in January if he wishes as long as the fees arent too silly.

Thats from the same person that told me about Donohue signing a few days back and was also right about Caddis signing too.
Let's just hope you're informant  is correct on this one too, if he is,  not only will we have a squad more than able to get promoted this year but probably next year again as well.

Journo Nixon reckons we’ve a strong chance of signing El Ginge permanently in January - in the process of being finalised.

Mmmmm?

He is rarely wrong. Obviously a number of variables over a four week period, but that would be nice to be tied up on 1 Jan.

Tbh, he does get a fair bit wrong - mainly in the usual rumours surrounding transfers. But this sort of thing he is usually pretty much on the money.

Whilst we’re at it, if we’ve got a fully fit squad and retain the present loanees, do we actually need to do much in the Jan window?

I think we change season-long loans to permanent at any time?

Being greedy, I would like another striker option off the bench - a prem youth teamer on loan would do. We’ve been lucky that Doyle and Yates have remained injury free as our competent back up options are non-existent.

Problem is, we’ve got our full quota of loans. May is the 6th loan who’ll return to Pompey. The others are pretty much all in the Matchday squad.

Weren't we going to buy a non-league striker only for him to get injured? Maybe we'll be back in for him?

Yeah but if we covert 2 of them to perms and send May back...

Indeed, freeing up 3 slots in one fell swoop.

Everyone has been talking about signing Doyle. I’m as interested in signing Yates. Younger, with stacks of potential. Could be a really good long term signing. I suspect he’ll fancy getting in Rotherham’s side next year though.

His work rate is very paynteresque unselfish and puts a shift in. Would he get in a Rotherham side next year if he can't get in it this? I'm not so sure he would. Also if we go up why not stay here and push on where he knows he fits in.

I cannot see him getting into the Rotherham team if they get promoted, and if they don't we could be in the same league next year anyway.
