I don't fully buy the current line that we need to offload before getting a striker in - it's just public pressure on the players to leave. If that's the case, it's bad management of resources, and we've also been turned down by a couple, so if Maynard had said yes, would we have postponed until Dave was sold?
Before Scunthorpe, we'll sign D'Ath, Isgrove, Krastev and at least one striker.

Nevertheless, we were around the autos and in the PO's when he left. When you've a modest budgie, it leaves little wriggle room, it's not like PdC days when resources could be wasted.

It doesn't tie in with Wellens being 95% / 100% sure about some of his targets either. Why say that if he thinks he can't free up wages?

Very true. Think we’re now in the frustrating period of our own transfer window.

And, with a huge budget, he had Mansfield in the autos with 3 games to go and only needing 1 point to be certain of going up. He right royally fucked that up and, not surprisingly, he’s now without a gig.

Exactly - we can't be 95% on one and 100% on another (just waiting for the club to release the player/backfill) if we haven't got room in the budget.

Both JMcG and TD were told a while ago they're not going to feature.... so doubtless their agents will have been trying to do something. There are plenty in the out of contract pool.... the sort you mention above, so clubs will tend to look here first. If we could move them on loan by paying half their wages it might free up some cash for a better striker.

True, but of no relevance to our recruitment.... Flitcroft might argue, that there was a case for Bury staying down for financial mismanagement, and Stags as 4th place replacing them.

That and we know the adver recycles stories based on one interview and reframes it across several days. Better to listen to Wellens direct, so lets see what he says after tonights game.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a Man U U23 loan signing will be in our squad (a La Vigouroux a few seasons ago)
