Tbh, I think I’d rather splash £75k on Stevens.

Potential and all that. Wellens, no doubt, will want a proven goal scorer that he knows and that’s fair enough.

Danny Hylton fits the bill. Championship striker - or, at least, a striker with a Championship club - surplus to requirements at Luton.

Shhh. Don’t tell Chalkies.

And our yellow near neighbours too.

He would be brilliant if we could temp him but I am sure he will have lots of offers from higher league teams than us.

Hylton was one of the people I thought of when a championship player was mentioned, but as others have said I think he would have plenty of offers from L1.

Apparently Hylton has been left out of the Luton training camp squad as he searches for a move according to a Looton forum.

Carried a fairly bad knee injury for a lot of last season, a fit Hylton would be amazing but out of our reach I feel with several suitors from higher divisions.

He is exactly the type of line leader/target man we need who can hold the ball up and distribute the ball but also grabs a fair few goals.

He was the difference between us and Luton at the CG when they mullered us, we couldnt cope with his elbows and strength.

Him and Akinfenwa were the best big strikers we faced that season by miles.

Ah well, we can dream.

Nearly a 1 in 2 record for Luton over 103 games.

Imagine the pissflaps would want him back as well as a load of other league 1 clubs.

My Pompey supporting mate says Brett Pitman has been told he is "no longer wanted on voyage" at Pompey by Jackett.

With the Portsmouth connections we already have in Rose, May and Hunt he may be a viable alternative to Doyle.

Could do worse, same age as Doyle at 31 and a proven goalscoring record of 1 goal every 3 games (1 in 2 games at Pompey).

Is he only 31 seems to have been playing for bloody years!

Could do a good job at this level I suspect.

Hopefully we will know on the trialists. I think we may be getting at least 3 of them, the GK, D'ath and Randall

The Clough rumour has resurfaced - maybe because Doughty’s Dad is co-chairman at Forest, people are putting 2 and 2 together.
