As Reg will say (rightly) the proof will be in the pudding. I do agree though the players so far seem to be higher caliber than the last few seasons on paper. The optimism has been beaten out of me, so wait with interest. I'm actually looking at the fixture list again for upcoming games I want to get to. First time for a couple of years.

It’s all promising - but to state the obvious, we need goals. We haven’t got them yet. Yates might, but has never been prolific so far. These next 3 signings are the key.

You get the feeling that for once recruitment has been done properly. So far seemingly no panic buys and the feeling we could actually start the season tomorrow with a pretty balanced squad, bar missing a couple of forwards. Wellens and Jewell appearing to work well so far, after a good January transfer window as well.

The communication from the club through social media and the adver has also been great and far from the nothingness of other pre seasons.

I can’t wait for the season to start!!

.... Bound to get relegated now

Notts County and all who have suffered before them serve as the constant reminder that no fan can assume safety but County did make some dafter than daft decisions like sacking the manager who had done all their summer business within a few weeks of the season starting and getting rid their second in mid-November.

Say what you'd like about Power but he hasn't done that (or dick pics)............................................... yet.

Fans aren't stupid (generally) and I don't think your last statement applies that often, I could be wrong but I think generally fans can see a half decent player.

It could be that hes a friend of Baudry who informed Wellens that he was a decent bloke and not a bad player so advised them to give him a chance to win a contract.

His desription from MK fans sounds very similar to fans of Coventry with Conor Thomas, James Dunne from Exeter and Cambridge fans and Jak McCourt from Chesterfield fans....all of which were not too far from the truth.

Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.

I actually met an Exeter fan this winter.  He was in my bar and found out I was a Swindon fan, he said he and friends wanted Dunne back.  He was a personal friend of Matt Taylor and actually showed me pre-existing exchanges with him asking if there was any way they could get him back.

Horses for courses, I wouldn't begrudge someone like him a place in the squad assuming he was on a very performance based contract with a very basic salary.

I actually think Robinson could work really well with someone like Yates.

Its not so much calibre as the fact that recruitment seems to be being done to a plan and not on a random who is available basis!

There is a plan, we’re just not privy to it yet.
