Substantial in Carlisle's opinion. We know we're willing and able to pay fees.

I suppose it’s telling that, as far as we know, nobody higher up the food chain than Cambridge has shown any interest in Knoyle.

I thought the same.

He's probably only had half a decent season recently, that might turn a few off.

From Carlisle re Devitt

‘Richie Wellens didn't bother to go in for him earlier as he thought Carlisle would offer a certain length and wage amount, which Swindon could beat, but the difference between the amounts he did not think Devitt would move down there for the sake of couple hundred quid. Now the contract offer is out there in the "football world" from Carlisle, the wages at Swindon in comparison are excellent, and the contract length more.’

From Carlisle re Yates

‘Swindon players of the last few years must have been on decent money, as their contract offers and bids for players are looking very impressive.

They did get some players on good money off their books at the end of this season so that will obviously free up a bit.’

They apparently bid £35-40k for Yates and reckon Rotherham are looking for £100k.

100k is not beyond Power.

Whether or not we think the player is worth that, or if we even want him at all, is another matter.

So, for those thinking the club is fucking things up re Knoyle, its the exact same thing as Carlisle are doing re Devitt.

It’s how football works.

Forest Green are still annoyed that we got Woolery from under their nose after they thought they had agreed a £150,000 fee for him!  So it is possible!!!

Players seem to hold almost all of the cards these days and there is no longer any loyalty in football, possibly rightly so as well as clubs dont stick with players that often so why should players stick with clubs? works both ways.

Where does that info come from, puts an interesting slant on things.  Without the invoices though, Reg will dismiss this, because the money we spent on Agents (not what players passed on to agents) was around the same as New Century.

It's merely ended up like the world is for the rest of us - we can all bugger off when we like, and increasingly get dumped when the company doesn't need to pay for us.  The only oddity is that transfer fees remain so high in the upper leagues - in reality, you shouldn't have to spend any money on fees down here.

Only off their forum - so the equivalent of us nobheads pontificating on here!

I presume they know how their club works. Much the same as we do.

Absolutely, it should be fairly easy to be very competitive without spending a penny on fees with so many (previously) decent players being free agents.

There can be very few teams in our league that will spend anything this season in fees I would think with possibly Mansfield being an exception this coming season.

Carlisle only offered Devitt a 1 year deal apparently.
