Aguero's actual or sub replacement got close to 20 in all Comps, and he got 32 in all.  So from a single position, they garnered 51 goals in all competitions.  I think that might be a club benefiting from having a decent goalscorer!

Then the two positions either side of Aguero brought 62 goals to the table - the players being largely rotated among four individuals for two slots.

But we mainly talk league football on here as we tend to go out of cups early these days, so that is what mainly interests us.   For example, I've no idea who the last STFC player to have 10 cup goals to tiheir name might be.

However you try to warp the point,, it is an inescapable fact that Man City scored 95 league goals of which their maiin central striker scored 21. Hence 74 from other sources, which to my mind backs up te point that you can be successful by getting goals from a variety of sources.

And Robinson would be perfect if Anderson and Woolery were 10-15 goal a season + players, but they aren't.  City still got loads of goals from the front players, we don't have the squad to provide the necessary cover, so you'd want a goalscorer brought in, no?  Another way would be a 10+ defender, we don't have them either.

Hence the point that Woolery and Anderson need to up their game, and get up to say at least 8 goals a season if not 10. Further we could have s bit more in terms of numbers up front.... remember this time roughly last year, we lost Norris and Mullin, and only replaced with Bayo, a kid.... predictably it didn't end well.   N and M got 19 between them, Bayo and then his replacement Theo got 12. Those 7 goals lost perhaps cost us a PO place.

According to Wellens, 2-3 of the players he is trying to sign have played against us. One assumes he means during his time as manager here.

Get your chops around that.

As you say, his suggested approach seems likely to be picking off good players from other sides in our league, potentially from smaller clubs or those less likely to challenge.

Sounds like he wants those 2-3 in the door sooner rather than later too. All sounds good.....

Ah, the PdC approach. If they’re the best(ish) in their positions in L2 it’s better than buying blind.

Didn't he also say that if Conroy and Knoyle didn't sign contracts by a certain point they would be leaving. That was a few weeks ago now wasn't it?

Here’s a few for PV - being a local lad!

Bevis Mugabe and Alex Fisher released by Yeovil.

Boateng released by Exeter - think he’d be a decent signing.

Wellens is inexperienced, I'm sure he says a few things which reflect that.  Players will be advisd by their agents to wait for cut off dates on contracts, to see if they can get better. It's a nice place to be, a bit of security in knowing there's something for next season and the possibility of something better..... enjoy your holiday.

I'd say Boateng will have a lot of league 1 and 2 suitors. He hasn't been released. Exeter have offered him a new deal but their manager doesn't expect him to stay.

No just thinking if we clubbed together and funded some 'relaxation' for you it might save some bandwidth in the long run by you not belligerently arguing a toss about everything...
