Scouting players when they're already at the club might explain why he's left that role...

A higher earner from last season, so to speak so now opens the door for an imminent incoming I would say. Don't think we'll see Robbo again. Well only to pick up his framed pictures.
I’m still staggered by the thought of a 30 year old centre back, who spent much of his career with Torquay and was on a free after playing just a few games for Wimbledon, being given 2 years on a high wage by the beloved ‘Flitters’ What the fuck was he thinking?

As much as I dislike Flitcroft, I think that was at a point where he had to build a squad on frees with minimal time before the season started. Unfortunately one of the many summers of poor panic recruitment over the past few years.
I think we will see a much changed model this summer, as it feels for the first time in years like we are actually building a proper structure now.

I'm sure we are paying a large chunk of his wages still though
Granted but it still frees up some wage shuffling. I assume Havant are paying at least 20%? 20% of c£2k? Who knows but maybe an extra £400 of the wage means we can afford to pay a free agent a little more?

Exactly... we needed a couple of Div 4 stoppers, and got a couple. When you have to sign a job lot of 12 or so, you'll not get them all right. Robertson was at Torquay when they were decentish under Lingy, and the number of games he featured under Flitcroft which we won, 9 out of 15, suggests a reasonable Div 4 squad player.

Yeah, I sort of get the actual signature. It’s the 2 year part that I just can’t fathom. If he tells you where to go when you offer him a year, just go and sign another old lump who will accept it. Or even someone half decent, such as Preston.

More FOOTBALL : @Official_STFC defender Chris Robertson loaned to Havant & Waterlooville, striker Ben House should be back in squad for trip to Tranmere after injury #stfc
Robertson finding his level.
Read this little gem on their forum.... Random lower-league (presumably of the grizzled rugged painfully slow type) defender on 1 month loan

That can't mark. Or kick. And has no steam.

Should fit in well in a team sat 20th place vying for relegation from the National League then.

Is this a good signing or not? As I have no idea about him.

Can only imagine he has a specific mix of attributes that will help the team that our current 9 CMs don't have, and should also mean we never see Taylor play CM again. Would guess it's now 2 of Doughty, Dunne, McCourt and Rose but does also give us the option of playing a narrow diamond, or a more traditional 4231.
On paper a good signing.
