I wouldn't want Coxy back.

All the evidence suggests that players who return and do well have only gone for maybe a couple of seasons... or maybe they are relatively young.... so Paul Bodin, Jimmy Quinn, Chris Kamara.  Those who left then came back more or less at the end of their career... David Kerslake, Phil King, David Moss, Don Rogers.... less successful.

Fair analysis but feel Coxey signing would give everyone a much needed lift.

I hope we keep him. My favourite player from last season. I think he can get better.
Me too. Gutsy and awkward. Always (well, nearly always) looks a pain in the arse to play against.

Mullin is the sort of player i'd hate if he was playing for the opposition but I like playing for us.

Yep. I'd rather keep Mullin than sign Cox. Further I'd worry a bit about PB being a bit unimaginative in recruitment. I'd prefer to see players who I'd not heard of and had no connection to Sarfend... but let's not judge, as it's still theoretical.

Like Reg said Simon Cox back - bad move. We need a new Simon Cox not an old one. We need to stop living in the past there are plenty of strikers who could do a job for us.

Surely if Brown signs Coxy it’s got fuck all to do with him being an ex player of ours and all to do with Brown thinking he’ll score the goals to help us do something in league two this season?!

This exactly.

Would not expect to see the same player as he was but one with experience and ability for the level we are at now.

Maybe I've been watching a different game, but personally think he's useless. Cox would be a big upgrade.

I don't think Cox would be worth the big wages, personally.

We don't know what wages he will be on. While he has been playing in a higher league, Southend aren't exactly a big club and won't be able to fork out much themselves... plus they offered him a reduced deal. To say he'd be on big wages is nothing but an assumption.

He's scored 26 goals in 79 appearances since the start of 2016-17 - that's in L1. I don't think that's too bad is it? given that he would be dropping a level?

I also have to say though that if there was one player in the whole squad I would not want to see go it would be Mullin.

Of course it's an assumption, but not an unreasonable one.

I don't agree. As I have already explained, he has probably not been on that much at Southend.
