Anyone else getting bad vibes about the fact literally only Baudry has signed a new deal and everyone else has (so far) chosen to move on.

Even Parsons and Dabre announcement read like a club triggered extension

I'd be more worried if those said players were an integral part of our squad going forward.

Reality is, Payne is the only OOC player i'm arsed about losing.

No way being itk but an odd conversation down the pub with a friend who has no interest in football has heard through odd acquaintances that we are signing a player on Thursday  who will really lift the club. Could be a load of old sphericals but this is a rumours site!

kind of expected it tbh. And squads usually get dismantled after near success.

what's worrying me is the replacements (so far).

Our model relies on us picking up players that other teams have let go and turning them around.

it's a fair enough idea tbh. if it largely works it'll be brilliant.

we surely need to derisk it with a lesser risk type of signing

So let's summarise our *Replacements*

Wollacott > Brynn

Hunt > Devine

Egbo > Shade

Conroy > Harries

Odimayo > Brennan

When you list it like that, it's really not that bad. The evidence to suggest we're serious about promotion will be dependant on the forwards we bring in and if Jack Payne signs a new deal. So far I'm content. Just hoping for some big news next week.

That is a really good way at looking at things!

Yeah & as is usually the way whether it’s a case of ‘better the devil you know’ will only be found out in hindsight and by then it’s too late.

Does the “>” symbol signify “better than” or “going from x to y”?

Good Post, I'm really not too fussed about losing most of a defence that got us relegated and we're largely at fault for our failure to be promoted last season.

Just x to y. Probably should've made that clear.

I see. I initially thought it was a case of saying all the old players were vastly superior.

Spot on Deany.

Let's not forget if it wasn't for that last run of games winning 4 on the bounce we'd have ended up about 10th, some of the defending, especially away was weak and comical. Glad it's being dismantled and replaced

Sol Bamba looks like it's happening. Pete O'Rourke confirming we're in advanced talks.

He's pretty spot on most of the time. Never seen him get a lot wrong.
