Forget Brexit, come December 31st it might be "Townxit". We've already had 2 players tear up their previous agreements and leaving with no deal!  Wink

Seems there are so many smoking mirrors

Why 3 weeks? He's a free agent now. Can go wherever he wants.

Also this... appears that the OS had planned to release this 3 days ago (on Weds 9th), how strange  Hmmm

You have to have been a free agent before the transfer window closed to move clubs, if a player was under contract the day the window closed, it doesn’t matter when their contract was torn up, they still have to wait till the next transfer window opens to register with a new club.

Right o' cheers. It's seems to me he's been tapped up though, especially if he already has a club lined up. Unlike Power not to get a fee out of a player?! After all, he got money for Brophy Smiley

I find it odd that people think that not living beyond our means makes us 'tinpot'

Apparently the length of the club statement wasn’t suitable  Roll Eyes

What I find more odd is the belief that we’d somehow receive a transfer fee for a player that made 7 appearances in League 2 last season due to being on the brink of a jail sentence for assault, and has been a mixed bag to date this season at a higher level!

I guess that’s all relative to who wants him and how much they want him versus how much we want to keep him.

I mean it’s not completely outside the realms of possibility that fans would expect the club to hold out for a transfer fee for an under contract first team player...

indeed, it looks like somebody wants to sign him. they could at least buy out the remainder of his contact for us to release him

Not knowing the circumstances of why he is leaving makes it difficult to judge.

I'd be pissed off if it's is a personality clash with Sheridan. less so if he's got genuine personal issues and wants out.

But if he can’t sign/play for another club until 1st January, why leave now. 3 weeks with no pay. Or, 3 weeks wages saved by the club.

OK, but you'd still think he might ask for a couple of months' leave without pay rather than just walking away, particularly for a player who wasn't showered with options before Wellens rescued him. Could yet be more to this.
