GP did his job admirably.

He may have loved his time here, but there's no loyalty expected. He's not got time on his side.

Interesting times.

Eoin Doyle did what he was signed to do and he'll always have my appreciation for that.

I think we'd all love for him to stay but there's a reason why he only signed up for the remainder of the season so if there's a financial element (either with him or Swindon) and/or better offer to accomodate his family life then I wouldn't begrudge him that.

Agree. Feel for him a bit that his chance for one last big pay day to set him up for retirement has probably come at the worst possible time for football finances. To a point I hope he gets more than we can afford somewhere, although I'd be delighted to see him back at the CG next season.

He’s not going to go beyond L1 and if a salary cap does come in his choices will be very limited.

Yates is an intriguing one as probably not championship quality yet and other league one clubs would have to buy him from Rotherham which puts us in a good position if the price was right

6 months to either get us promoted or be available on a free for one last decent pay day.
He could potentially see it as a way to show he can be prolific in L1 to get a bigger pay out in the Championship in the January window. Who knows?

I half expect him to leave us but he’ll be looking beyond Mansfield, agent probably using them to drive up offers as they are known to over pay. Can’t see him wanting to finish his career playing in front of 4k home crowds after the season he’s had.

I suspect that the greenbacks take priority over whether there is an extra grand or so in the stands.

Still think they’d be last resort and at the moment just a negotiating tool.

I would have thought financially Mansfield will be cutting back. John Radford seemed v.keen on a salary cap. Mansfield's wages were enormous last season. Ultimately if there isn't a salary cap I don't think we'd be able to afford to keep Doyle, but would have thought he could get a L1 club.

There's always going to interest when the EFL's top scorer is available for nothing.

We all know Doyle still lives up North and isn’t going to relocate. That’s common knowledge but as he said on the Pod Wellens has been extremely accommodating towards that. Giving extra days off and what not.

So, as long Wellens continues offering that flexibility then I’d say him staying here is a possibility. I mean he might actually get to spend more time at home with his family this way than if he was playing closer to home, who knows.
