If anyone follows @swindondaily on Instagram, they're saying Yates will return after Colchester and Bradford and Swindon has agreed a deal for Doyle but he wanted too much cash and also a signing is "imanent" tomorrow.

Clearly bollocks as per all these rumour accounts. Quoting wages and contract info instantly ends all credibility.

His squad number on Saturday will reveal a lot. I’d imagine he’ll get number 8 but if he’s given 9 I think it’ll be safe to assume Yates won’t be back.
Looks like he’s gone all Ballotelli and got number 45 in photos with his agent so still leaves number 9 available!

I think virtually every club is saying it will be a mad rush next week. Relatively few deals have been done to date. When the deals at the top get done it will spark off the domino effect.

Be good if Derby sell Bogle this week - a couple of mill would come in handy!

I'm not 100% sure that you can take a former players number. It certainly used to be the case.

Plenty of players have arrived since Ballard left for example.

Is Bogle likely to leave? As I understand it, it’s rare that the club with a sell-on gets its % immediately, and payments would usually be staggered in the same way that they are likely to be for Derby. That said, you’d imagine Power could get finance secured on a guaranteed (supposedly) income stream from Derby if it did happen.

Edit: It seems AC Milan (!) tried and failed, and are now looking at Forest’s Marty Cash instead.

I always thought that if a sell on is due the selling club has to pay the sell on fee immediately - in full.

Not sure why I think that, though.

But what if the selling club are being paid in instalments themselves?

Truth be told, I don’t have a clue how transfers are structured and paid.

I presume that if we know we’ve got £2m coming in - even in instalments - we can be confident buying a player, again probably in instalments.

Just fucking buy somebody. I don’t give a shit how!

 Pint
But what if the selling club are being paid in instalments themselves?

Then surely they’d negotiate with the ‘creditor’ club that their sell on slice would be a % of any payment made to the registered selling clubs received payments. If the purchasing club then sells on again then all clubs still owed get paid in full. Unless there are FIFA, FA or EFL rules in place?

‘City have not heard any more from leaders Swindon over Eoin Doyle after they also lost his former strike partner Jerry Yates to parent club Rotherham.’

I read somewhere that the majority of transfers are now done as installments, it was something stupid like 1 in 50 transfers is paid in full and all payments go through the EFL, who will take any sell on % and pass on to the other club
