Just to be clear, the 5 loan limit is in the matchday squad. Aren't we allowed 8 signed?

I think we can have as many as we want.

I think there's a limit as to how many you can sign over the course of the season. Maybe 10.

To be fair though it’s kind of pointless having more than 5 though. Same happened in our play-off season if I remember rightly where Swift couldn’t be part of the squad for the play-off final due to the number of loan players.

Swift was poorly nearer to the end of his Town career wasnt he?

Anything more than 6 isn't productive (6 with a Ben House as your cheap sixth is acceptable).

Well, yeah, I don't see the point in taking more than 5 (maybe 6) but, from memory, I think there's still no limit. I might be wrong.

I remember a lot of other clubs/fans moaning the season we had a group from Spurs. (That season where we lost our identity  Wink). They were moaning about how we were getting away with breaking the rules - but we were breaking no rules.

Oddly this popped into my head the other day when I was walking home. It was more around when watching Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports, Jeff Stelling always 'seems' to have a bit of a bee in his bonnet about Swindon. When Doyle kept scoring he was bleating on about how ridiculous that Bradford had loaned him to us and surely would need to recall him in January.

He was one of the vocal moaners whenever one of the Spurs loanees would score for us that its 'surely not right' that we can have so many good players on loan!!

It gave me great delight to watch him cry as Hartlepool were relegated. I think he is bitter when we played out a 1-1 draw with Walsall which ensured that Hartlepool couldn't make the play-offs. Tee hee!

Ah ok, got my wires crossed there then!! He still appears (to me at least) to have a bee in his bonnet about the way we use the loan system however.

Only slightly - The point for Walsall meant that Hartlepool missed out on winning the league title - They lost to Bristol Rovers anyway so it was their own fault in 2006-7

Donohue was due in court today. Does anybody know the outcome?

Edit: The Adver have reported he has pleaded guilty, including to GBH, and will be sentenced on 13 March, so assume that’s the end of any prospect of us signing him.
