Rovrum site said they had recall in Jan in their announcement of the loan.
As he’s under 24 there would be compensation payable if they offer him another contract so no benefit for them to release him now.

Bennett on the bench for Rovers tonight so any deal must be some way away.

Noticed Theo Robinson isn't even in the Southend squad, imagine he will be off somewhere before the window closes.

Apparently hes not been in the "right frame of mind" ever since the racial abuse he got from some Sarfend fans earlier in the season to play.

Fair play to him - I wouldn't play for them again either.

It's on the rise everywhere not just Southend though.

It is indeed. I was listening to a debate yesterday about the racist abuse that has been sent to Pogba and Rashford after missing their penalties, from their own fans.

Totally get all of that. Definitely on the rise. Big difference between verbal abuse and online abuse though, and to be verbally abused, racially, by your own fans would be enough for me to never play for that club again.

Think that's some of the problem - that some people don't think it counts if it's online, that it's somehow just "bants" or whatever, and not as bad as if they went up to the guy and said it to his face. So they think it's OK to say something online they woudn't dream of saying to someone's face

its the obvious problem, the keyboard warrior. the ONLY way it will be fixed is by ID verified accounts, your username doesn't even have to be your name- but to set up the account you need to provide ID. then you are accountable and can be prosecuted. banning an account and then setting a new one up in minutes isn't a deterrent. the government should be enforcing this as twitter etc will never propose this.

There still is a big difference. In no way is online abuse right, of any nature, but being verbally abused by your own fans is obviously, in my mind, more horrifying that being sent nasty messages by nameless, faceless twerps on the internet.

Yeah you wanker!  Wink

Whilst Twitter etc rightly get much of the grief (Although this is much to do with the fact that they are buggering up the advertising revenues of the traditional news outlets and thus any chance to kick them via those channels is grasped with open hands), the core of the issue is the extent to which it is easy in a couple of seconds to set up an email address with next to no personal info. To set up a Twitter account and be a twat you need an email address, now if the email providers collated information and required verification to launch an address it would be comparatively easy to manage.

However this is all rather missing the point that giving people the channel by which to be an arsehole is rather blaming the wrong person. For whatever reason being a racist twat appears to have emerged rather strongly again in the UK at the moment!

I would think that 99.9% of all the racist online abusers would not do it face to face as they are not brave enough, racists are all cowards anyway.

Online racists are the lowest form of cowardice too as they think they can get away with it, they can't and won't.
