We tried him as a right winger, think he took whatever gig he could after that.

I was thinking Dean Hooper but he made 4 appearances. I always thought he was a speedy winger type but Wiki says he was a defender.

He had one great game on the wing, in the Leyland Daf or whatever the hell it was at the time. Other than that he was useless.

I doubt many of ours could manage the infamy of Aly Dia!

There’s an STFC version of pointless somewhere in here. Michael Pattnoire, Alex Meechan, Ricky Culbertson, Sam Campagna, Alan Flanagan (best hardly ever used keeper we’ve had?), Richard McKinney, Shane Cook..,

I'm glad to read that, I wasn't at the game but was round a mate's round York Road that evening & kept hearing chants of 'Super Hooper' from the crowd. I was starting to think I'd made that up as no one seems to remember him ever playing well for us.

Did John Buttigieg (sp) ever get on the pitch? Wasn't he a Maltese international or some such

Having looked it up, it must have been against Colchester in the auto windshields. The next round against Hereford, Steve White scored the only goal and most of the ground stood to applaud him.

Played 4 times but Juan Cobian must have the lowest games to seasons ratio, 3 years he was here!

My Richard McKinny highlight was his half time shooting practice, into the Town End goal. One particularly hard shot flew just wide, whistling past a guy returning to his seat fully laden with burgers and bovril. "OOOOOO!". The guy stops to look at McKinney, meanwhile the ball hits the back wall of the Town End, and rebounds back towards the pitch, hitting the bloke on the way and sending his food and drink flying.

Did he ever play?

Big Ben... definitely in the XI who only played in cup games then. There's plenty who played fewer than 90 mins in a league game, but the only played a cup game more difficult.... I had hoped for Austin Berkeley, but he got a few mins in a league game, to go with his Anglo Italian Cup apearances.

I once had a chat with Ben... his old man was a mate of Kingy, he thought of himself as more of a tennis player, but that didn't work. Nor did the football.

I thought I saw him in goal against Stoke in the last game of the season when we stayed up thanks to Bristol Rovers.
