Surely most reasonable fans expect 2-3 more additions before the end of August. I'd be very surprised if one of them isn't cover/upgrade on Taylor. We're never going to get 50 games out of him this year, and we may not want to.

that would be an odd one. I know we need cover but surely it's covered in midfield already!

Only 2 loan spots left this loan would be bizarre when we are dire need of a striker & Defender. However I’m sure Brown has mentioned in an interview he would go over the 5 loanee cutoff?

Not entirely true. I think you can have 8 loans but only 5 allowed in a matchday squad.
Don’t know whether others agree but I reckon we’re only 2 players away from having a side that can compete at the top. Midfield has to be one of, if not the, best in L2.
It’s strange why the obvious weak links haven’t been addressed - yet.

Maybe we've been close to deals that have fallen through behind the scenes or are waiting on some to be completed that are taking longer than expected to get over the line?

Brown has been very open about him struggling to get the defenders he wants. It's no mystery. We just have to hope he gets one or two before the window shuts.

Its intriguing. It looked like we were going down the cheap and punty route. I didn't really expect to be able to attract a Doughty or a Dave. But we did, along with talk of a proven striker and experienced defenders (plural). And my expectations rose. Yet attracting what (to my eyes) should be an easier position to fill has proven slow going. Rich P, you'll need to get an ex manager/agent on your podcast to give us the lowdown on your average transfer window.

As I said, I think Brown got misty eyed when the prospects in midfield appeared before him and it's distracted funds and focus from the key slots we really did need. Must be hard when you get a few midfielders fall in your lap who should all be playing in the league above and turn one or more of them down. He's said we are close to budget, we shouldn't be if he knows we have at least two weaknesses to fill, which he at least says out loud. He's gone full first transfer window in Football Manager I fear. There is no doubt we play better football as a result, that we look like we are on the edge of being good. If he can't pull some rabbits out of the hat in those positions though he has to put some hard work in to fix them with th resources we have, or risk his job. Much as I hated Flitcorft, I thought the team should have made the play offs all season. I see the issues the team right now and they worry me, but I still feel we will should have enough to make the play offs - Hope, she is a terrible mistress.

Callum Lang, who was a rumoured target, has gone to Oldham.

Can see location wise it would be a lot easier for him than coming to us..
If we were even in for him that is.

Brown and Laing met I am led to believe - why it didn’t progress, I am not sure - perhaps Richards’ return being ahead of schedule?

Some footballers at 19 years old don't fancy the longer distance moves.
45/60 minute commute from where your pals are vs. move down south with no guarantee of a starting place.
