So, does signing ‘Dave’ create a benchmark for whatever other signings we make?

Hope so, 2 CBs of similar pedigree would be most welcome.

I'm less worried about that in CF terms as we've already got the most proven player at this level in that position, he just happens to be injured at the moment.  A Morgan Ferrier would be adequate for me, only 35 grand to reach his buy out clause according to sources.

According to his club! But, chunky add-ons...

If his release clause is 35,000 then no further add-ons will be necessary.

PB said a while back there was value in the free transfer market.... it's likely that some of the players here will hang on to try and secure the best deal so should be the "better" types. THe danger of course is that you miss out.... can cost a manager his job like Malpas and to an extent Danny Wilson....MM thought he had Charlie Mulgrew in the bag, down here to sign, photograph in shirt etc, then the missus put her foot down....he then signed Yinka.

DW thought he had Joe Mason in the bag to replace Austin.... instead we got Elliot Benyon.  PB needs to get the CB situation sorted with his main targets landed, who need to be credible Div 4 types.... otherwise his job will soon be under threat.

Been told Elliott Ward is one of the players Brown met this week. Released by Blackburn and been training with Charlton to keep fit.
Whether or not there is an offer I don’t know.

Darren's brother...

...did that relationship end well? He liked Williams but not Cooper, I think. Not that it matters.

Would surely be a very solid signing at this level. Haven’t tracked how he has done recently - but certainly used to be a very good player.

If E. Ward is going to be as slow as his brother I'm not sure I'd be too keen. Although Conroy alongside an experienced head could be a winner

Please please do not be an ex-player that has done well previously!
