Tow things from this..... https://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news/2017/june/breaking-town-add-to-their-attacking-options-with-mullin-signing/

a) we appear to have paid money for him and;
b) we seem to already be back in pre-season training?
Compensation payment rather than transfer fee. Much the same thing, I suppose.

Only if the clubs didn't agree a fee then it would go to a tribunal to come up with a figure that is owed, from the press release the 2 clubs have agreed a fee.

From the club

'The 22-year-old leaves the Globe Arena after an undisclosed compensation fee was agreed between Swindon Towm and Morecambe.'

Doing some research, he signed a 3 year contract in 2014 which was due to expire on July 1st, but as he was under 24 then Morecambe are due a fee for his "development", which is where both clubs need to come to an agreement over the value for the player or they go to a tribunal, so as I said, both teams agreed a fee for the transfer of Mullins, call it a transfer fee or compensation fee, doesn't make a difference imho.

Why do clubs insist on these undisclosed fee's just be honest and upfront on what you have paid, if it's £20,000 for e.g then don't play secret squirrel let the fans know

Who does it benefit other than the fans who want to know?

The selling club doesn't have to say how much they have made and get rinsed but other clubs. The buying club doesn't show its hand on the sort of money it has to spend. From a business point of view its the right thing to do.

it's not about what Swindon paid out. it's about what Morecambe received, as if a club sees that another club got £500k for their player, the price of players they might be interested would rise.

Case in point, last summer when we were after Beautyman from P'boro, Barry Fry went on record and said "Swindon received £600k for ajose, I just want a bit more for my player".

Im glad somebody has got it........

Why Chinese and Kebab shops often only take cash....who does that in this day and age?

Hey Diddle Diddle...that's why!

Don't make the figure public and do a complex deal involving all sorts of clauses.

Even if they did announce the potential value of a deal, it's mostly irrelevant as it'll be paid in installments over the length of the contract, with clauses, performance incentives etc. It benefits no one.
