I still can't understand why we're offering contracts to the likes of Yaser.

Bristol can probably afford to take a punt on Yaser... we're supposed to be looking to play Div 4 football, with the manager in charge of recruitment... Yaser would be the last thing you need. I genuinely don't get it... is it something like a favour to the player, we've made an offer knowing he won't sign, so that say City have to make an improved offer

May be wrong but that's my take.

yes, but why do we want to resign them???!
I can see kasim had a good 6 months, and if you can recapture it then you'd be laughing. pretty big ask though.
Hylton has done nothing.

The Adver reported a couple of weeks ago that offers had to be made by a certain date to any player the club wanted to retain or risk an EFL fine: http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/swindon_town_2014/15295612.UPDATED__Town_offer_new_contracts_to_five_players/ EFL Regulations 65.2, 65.4 and 65.5 seem to be the relevant ones. If I'm reading Regulation 65.5 correctly, there may be some method in the club's apparent madness as it seems to be saying that if the player turns down our offer, we could be in for some 'compo' (as determined by Regulation 66.4). Or I could just be misinterpreting the whole thing as it gets a bit confusing with the references to the "under 24s"! http://www.efl.com/global/section6.aspx

Hyltons contract offer is easier to understand because if we didn't offer him a new contract then he could leave on a free but as hes under 24 we can charge a fee for his registration.

But it still makes no sense as we released Brad Barry who promptly got another club... had it been a case of you can make a few bob out of offering a new contract why didn't we do it with BB? Presumably Jermaine is going to bite our hand off, as there's no way in the world another club will take him... although I suppose FGR is an outside chance.

I think your comment about FGR could be the reason why we have offered a contract to him, as Cooper is a known admirer of his and have a lot of spending money for the coming season.

yes it's the inconsistency that's baffling. Smith is another example, looks a prospect worth a year to see if he can do it. Nothing offered.

It's interesting that the rumour Kasim was suffering from depression has not changed people's minds that he's just got too big for his boots. I hope it's not a case of him not speaking out, to his detriment, like we saw with Pericard and probably many others.
Still, a move would obviously be best for him. And I hope he's not too good if he goes there.

Wasn't a diss to anyone on here, more a general observation that there's quite often more going on under the surface.
