Ollie Hawkins, not Watkins.

Can see he's worth the Hylton type punt, though he's 25 so not exactly uprooting trees. But you would hope we can do better than that in addition.

Undoubtedly the biggest failure this season has been the lack of a reliable goalscorer.  Our leading scorer being NSSJO with 6, a historic low, showing the level to which we have fallen.

You never know, I daresay that someone in the hierarchy thought Delf, Norris and Hylton might replace Ajose's goals.   After a handful of games I posted that I'd be amazed, if those 3 scored 10 league goals between them. They managed 5  Sad

Further back in 2016, I posted that I'd heard we were interested in John Marquis as a replacement for Ajose, at the time he had no sort of record for Millwall, and a stack of unsuccessful loans. Went to Donny and scored 26 goals in Div 4.

Had he come here would he have scored so many  Hmmm

And therein lies the problem.

Not directed at you, but we often hear about the fact that Power is trousering all the money & won't spend any money, but actually he does it's just that recent recruitment has generally been spent on poor players.

The issue with that is we don't have the luxury of spending £££s on a player, and if they don't work out spend it again on another one until you happen to get it right.

Delf scored 5 in 18 for BPool, quite prolific. It does perhaps indicate that Div 4 is a bit easier than Div 3, which gives me hope that Norris might be able to better the new club low of 6 in a season.

We may find out soon.

Blackpool are in the final PO slot in Div 4. Although Blackpool are considered a basket case, they have consolidated since getting relegated last year, the credit for which must go to Gary Bowyer, who they appointed in June 2016.

Williams wasn't it?

It was always assumed that Cooper/Willams/Power sat down and discussed players. This was mainly deduction, rather than seeing them all in the same room, as some players were obviously Sherwood, through Spurs... some seemed connected to Brighton like Barker, where Williams worked, and some were Cooper like Michael Smith and Hylton.

What has of course happened is that Sherwood and Cooper are out of the picture, Williams has been gone from Brighton for some years now. Further the ruse of giving Anton (Brighton connection) a contract to get players from Brendan at the Scousers has gone west.

We seem to be left with QPR, although I'd hazard a guess Hollowhead had a laugh at our relegation, having recalled Michael Doughty to play 2 games before Saturday.

Ollie Watkins

Current club: Dagenham and Redbridge

Former clubs: North Greenford United, Hillingdon Borough, Northwood, Hemel Hempstead, Harrow Borough

Hawkins, 24, has already had a reasonable impressive rise through the non-league ranks and is now challenging for promotion into the Football League with Dagenham and Redbridge.

He has 16 league goals to his name this season but might not get much of a chance to add to his National League tally - he’s wanted by a host of clubs. Swindon have considered stumping up the £250,000 asking price should the Daggers fail to gain promotion back the EFL.

Yes back in January he was a target.
