When setting out on the model....it was very much the case of Darren Ward will help the kids along, we then got shreded by Wolves, Jack Stephens came in and it was decided the veteran was no longer needed.... a policy vindicated the following season, until late on when Ricketts was drafted in.

 Since then we've struggled defensively...

Town conceded an average of something like two goals per game with Sam Ricketts on the pitch. He only played 12 times.

You don't have to be 34 with 343 FL appearances to be 'experienced'. I pretty much define 'experience' as 2 or 3 full seasons as a regular. A player will know what it's all about with 50+ starts under their belt.

very much this.

that'll be Ben GLADWIN or BRAD BARRY, Craig TAYLOR and Lecsinel JEAN-FRANÇOIS.

Yes, but 2 of those aren't very good, one is a luxury player who I am delighted to have back; but needs different to what we have along side him

And Reg will deal with the french one. I'd take Lecs back over Barry and Brophy TBH.

Surely you get the point,
3 youngsters when we are mid table/beginning of season = great.
3 when we are where we are = more of a risk.

You're right, not every experienced player will be to your liking.

When we signed Luongo, Byrne and Perrott in March 2013 two out of the three clicked so a similar impact could happen again.

Talk about need for experience but Kasim, Thompson, Thomas, Obika, Norris, Delfouneso and (somehow) Branco have all played more than 100 times at this level or above. Then the likes of vigs, gladwin and Murray who have 50-60 starts. We aren't *that* evergreen

It's a leader on the pitch we need.

Whilst he is Captain and has Swindon in his heart I'm not sure that even Nathan is that leader.

It's a Greer/McCormack type we need

Its a fair point, I guess Kasim, Thompson and Obika have been injured on off.
Thomas and Delf can leave (just an opinion)
Norris = disappointing.

But realistically we've use all our loans now.

I wonder if the experienced Blackburn lad that was mentioned will be a done deal in time for Bolton.

I'd settle for Chris Blackburn (just playing) probably the only Buddhist to play for STFC. Well I recall him scoring 2 in a 4-1 besting of Brentford in what came to be the Boycott Trophy.

I'm wondering if Feruz Islam might attract a few more locals to give the CG a try out of solidarity  Hmmm

Re El Abd - He's really not what we need. At all.
Let's just agree to disagree on that

I liked Lecs....as a Haitian, I suppose it was his misfortune to be seen as French being a Francophone...how much better to be have been born in the Dominican Republic. The DR should be a shoo in for the 2026 WC, whereby the micro states of Concacaf will get more teams in than South America....Jack Warner wasn't all bad.

Youngins are in....Now let's hope for a bit of experience...Pretty please.

Once we've thrown the dice, let's hope we can start climbing out of this mire... So far I have little confidence...

I'm glad we've added some creativity in Gladwin and Colkett, Feruz is a bit of a wildcard which I'm not against as long as he's not disruptive.
