Splitting hairs really but did Lee Power really fund all those transfers? A few of them coincide with the sales of Flint (£400k), Collins (£200k), and Caddis (£150k).

Once the injured players are all back we will be fine.
But that's the point. Our 1st XI is fine, maybe even better than last season, but as has now been shown, chuck in a few injuries and/or suspensions and the replacements aint up to it.

Seeing as the entire bench is available for loan where will the replacements come from.

Yes because we lost 2million that year.  And 55k may be small fry but it is more than most will spend in this league where freebies are the order of the day.  Seriously, if people think we should be spending more than we have then you are in for a very disappointing life supporting us. Luongo is one of the most expensive players we have ever paid cash for.

I think what people mean is that, as in the past, Power has funded purchases without the benefit of player sales, then he could, and should, do so now - especially as there has been a big, for us, influx of cash from sales and Wembley.

I believe he can do whatever he likes.  He has got the club to a point where it funds it's wages but any purchases are likely to come from his own cash, or friends.  If we sell Byrne then we may invest some of that as we will be close to paying him back, but still not there yet.  A recent quote hinted the recent sales had cleared off the old debt, maybe to Black.

Of course he can do what he likes. He can decide to bring nobody in at all. Nothing we can do about it.

But if he was willing to spend on Luongo, Byrne, Smith and Obika it's not unreasonable for fans to think he may do so again.

Which he may well do yet.

Which was my point.  Some people seem to be claiming the evidence suggests we won't spend so I was highlighting that the evidence in fact is the complete opposite but only happens when the right investment is seen.

Late in the day now. But I expect some of Power's brinkmanship will become evident before the shop shuts.

Indeed. As has been said before, you want to plead poverty to all and sundry to keep transfer fees down. There is a reason why so many clubs insist on 'undisclosed' deals to stop selling clubs knowing how much cash you're throwing about.

Just out of interest, how much did we spend on George Barker?

I'm sure someone on here said £100,000 - though he may have been taking the piss

Comfortably weaker, surely? Luongo, Gladwin, Thompson, Toffollo, Foderingham all walk into this side.

We have a decent first XI still, agreed on that but I can't see us having the quality we had last season for a while.

I see no transfer rumours on this the transfer rumours thread. Is this because there are none or cos you lot are upping the bollocks quota?
