In many ways it's tougher for a goalkeeper to maintain a career in professional football. Belford will get more of a look in but I imagine he'll be fighting for the No.1 shirt with the new guy (if Wes leaves *Chortle*).

It's pretty much a given (see what I did there), for your number one to get the jersey then and try and keep it by performance.

Possibly but I'm not convinced that Foderingham has ever had a you-must-fight-for-this-shirt battle during his time at Swindon.

2012-13: Leigh Bedwell
2013-15: Ty Belford

Clubs either have two goalkeepers with similar levels of ability or a cemented no.1  and a rookie.

I think Swindon have operated under the latter for the last couple of seasons.

Wes's replacement is surely Tyrell Belford....not a lot of point in giving him a new contract and then no opportunity to show what he an do.

By replacement, I meant first-team goalkeeper, rather than out-and-out automatic choice. Whoever we bring in replaces Wes in the squad, clearly.

Is Ty Belford up to it? It seems he's had decent reviews whenever he's played.

he's just been given a new contract, cannot imagine the management would do so if he could not do the job surely?

only seen Belford play a few times. on those performances he's no wes. wes was on it as soon as he arrived.

that said, no keeper had been better than adequate in recent times (wes aside)

Don't forget Wes, was a left over from the PDC money days....he was good, but we paid for good.  I'd imagine Tyrell, is a lot cheaper. I wouldn't be altogether surprised if Belford senior isn't bench warmer for next season.

Obika is apparently meeting Rotherham officials today for a possible move... I can't see this as the case in all honesty. Seems like a bollocks story.

We aren't holding out for anything on that deal, reckon it's been done for weeks.

Was surprisingly tasty, despite what it looked like.
