BBC site...done deal:

Jonathan Obika, a 23-year-old product of Tottenham's academy, has signed a permanent deal with League One Swindon.
The striker has plenty of Football League experience. He's already had loan spells at Yeovil, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Peterborough, Brighton and - almost there - Charlton.

Soton still havent signed Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld yet
Imagine nothing would happen re Stephens until Toby signs

Toby or not to be, that is the question....

Probably because if the club announces we have received £1.5m for a player, and we go trying to buy a replacement, the fee might suddenly increase because they know we've just banked £1.5m.

Sam just tweeted to say its unlikely we'll get Stephens before the loan window opens.

That's frustrating.

Think the new loan window only allows for a max of 90 days, too

That's frustrating.

But not really unsurprising/necessary. We don't have a game for a couple of weeks so its not really a matter of urgency. He will join on loan anyway so if we wait until the loan window has reopened it shouldn't matter too much.

Which can always be extended (according to Sam)

Shame. Allows interest from other clubs who miss out on their targets today. 90 days isn't a concern though - we could extend at Christmas. It could even be that we don't want him today, if we can take him in a couple of weeks, saving on his wages.

Imagine Obika will blend a bit better with Luongo, Barthram, Byrne and even Kaisim with Spurs connections than he managed  with  Jonathan Douglas et al. Doesn't seem particularly prolific so was never likely to be the Charlie Austin replacement we needed when he was here last. But certainly had his best spells at Yeovil so the question about the Andy Williams link up is an interesting point. Thought we were talking about 2 or 3 new arrivals today so with Stephens looking unlikely in the next 8 hours I wonder if anyone else might be in the frame? Any more Spurs or Brighton connections floating about out there?

Obika when asked on STFCplayer if he knew a few of the lads responded with 'most of them actually'!!! No shit, cant be many other spurs youngsters left floating around can there.

Hope he settles and does well. Good alternative option up top as well.
