Very, very worrying for English cricket and international cricket as a whole.

The problem with IPL is that it isn't about the cricket, it's about the money. The BBCI were slagging off Twenty20 no end, until Zee Sports created the ICL and all of a sudden they jump on the bandwagon. The BCCI board, who have no interest in cricket progressing just the size of their wallet increasing, realised they could make a killing

And yeah, everything's about the money but like most people I prefer to see it hidden behind a veil of pride, commitment and quality. The IPL doesn't stand for any of this and perhaps worst of all, doesn't even try to pretend to.

Too much money has already killed football, I'd rather not see cricket go the same way.

Southampton - currently Hampshire
Manchester - currently Lancashire
Bristol - currently Gloucestershire
Nottingham - currently Nottinghamshire
Birmingham - currently Warwickshire
Leeds - currently Yorkshire
London - currently Surrey

The ECB is going to have to find a way (if any) of making sure the County game is not affected by this competition. The counties without Test match grounds are likely to be hit the most by it as they have a much more limited income - from Twenty20 and Pro40 prodominantly - to then spend on overseas players which affects membership.

More home-grown talent may (will have to) come through, but that doesn't weaken the impact that the 2 indian leagues are going to have necessarily.

If the ECB were to create another, opposing league it'd be slightly hypocritical and personally, i wouldn't want the county circuit to be changed as dramatically.
