If you want 'proper' ireland, I may have a contact who has a 5 bed place which they let in Co Mayo. It'l lcost you pittance mate. I spent a bit of a summer in Mayo in the early 80's....bird I knew, her parents had a small holding near Croagh Patrick....I estimated at that time it was about 25 years behind the rest of teh British Isles. Is it still like that? That is where my family come from near Croagh Patrick a little town called Westport. It's a bit nearer modern times now Reg, it's only really developed in the last 5 years though! Yep I know Westport...have you ever done the pilgrimage thing of climbing the mountain....some do it bare foot, carrying old relatives etc.. I just did it a bit pissed....the pub near the base was the local to where I was staying. Members of my family have done it, but fook that!!! I've heard the view of Clew Bay is second to none up there! Yep....I can visulise it now you mention it ....lots of little islands dotted around, away to the Achill island. fairly sure the little islands have a name, but can't remember. Isn't internet a wonderful thing..... http://www.tourismresources.ie/cht/Mulrany/clewbay.jpg

There are meant to be a thousand or so little islands in the bay. Spectacular. I wish I was there now
