It'd be quicker just to tell me to fuck off. I'm pissed, I won't mind. No, I prefer not to if it's all the same to you. Terry Tibbs mentioned that facinating fact in post #13 of this thread but it was quite easy to miss. I almost missed it second time around in fact. He was the only one to do so during this whole thread apart from myself. Any way, let's move on. I am desperate to know more infomation about this man with the massive thumb. Does anyone have any dimensions? Height? Weight? Girth? How did this happen? Please help me here - I can think of nothing else right now! In that case you have my sincerest apologies for my pedantry. Unfortunately I have not met 'Thumb Man' so I cannot offer any more information.

Whilst at college and working at Burger King I remember well him coming in and asking for "Cofftee", basically a cup of coffee with a tea bag in it.
I really want to try that now. Might have one in the morning.

He was unmissable really OST, big ears, big thumbs, big girlfriend and played an electric organ very badly outside McDonalds. He reminds me of the monster form the recent Beowolf (Sp) movie. He sounds absolutely fantastic. The truth is though, I've spent virtually no time in Swindon town centre during the last 15 odd years. Some misguided people would say that was a good thing. I, on the other hand would say I've been missing out

Seem to remember some guy who used to play the bagpipes at the top end of Regent Street. Also, what about the guy who used to wander through town with a shopping trolley looking for bits of scrap metal that he took to Coopers. Anybody remember him? He used to frequent Nottons Cafe at the Manchester Road/County road junction, he got banned for swearing at all the other customers!!

Is Noel still alive? I always thought he looked like he could keel over at any moment. And that was years ago. The last I heard he had a pub in Oxford.

Apart from swearing at the staff and other residents he had a flat on an upper floor and took all his gear and trolley up there, throwing it about in his flat. That was about 8 years ago, no seen him since then!

What about the bloke with the HUGE ears who went busking near macdonalds. I remember he found himself a girlfriend once and she used sit next to him shilst he was busking, they looked so proud and happy together, and they where both absolute monsters to look at. Him and his Mrs were mentally retarded. I was once upstairs in McDonalds when they came in and sat opposite me. He then started touching her up and putting his hand down her skirt. I didn't finish my meal. He's dead now I think.

Now yes he could not play for toffee with his webbed hands and dawn would sit there like yoko ono at his feet but andy would often come into the music shop where i worked and we would have to tune his guitar for him. He would have the guitar tuned/restrung to an open chord as his fingers would obviously not stretch to play open type guitar chords. Andy had whats called "perfect pitch" which not that many people have. You would tune the guitar for him and he would say it's still not right, you would move the string and he would be right everytime. Not the most pleasent person to have in your shop but someone who was probably more rock n roll and musical than alot of the musicians in this town. if you want another there is fred who just says "yeah yeah" and there was this guy who used to come in and just say "i love 60's and 70's music me" and no word of a lie i saw him coming out of the tent market one morning with a t shirt which read "I LOVE 60'S 70'S MUSIC!

I think the bloke you're talking about is called Tony. Not seen him for years, but I often used to an Adver from him at lunchtime when I worked in Swindon in the late 1990s. Nice chap. Always ready to chat with his customers. I think I gave him a Christmas card once.
