ling would cost money in compo.there are plenty of other candidates that we would not need to pay compo for.forget the fact that ling played for us. apart from that he hasn't exactly set the world alight has he?

Fitton has said now in the press that he wont be throwing money at this.....the line if we could get a an extra 1500 on the gate, then we could get better players.....is straight out of the Devlin/Holt lexicon of around 2003/04.

In order to stabilise finances, then its likely we'll  see cuts...again something Fitton implies.

Getting someone of top pedigree is just going to be beyond us......Sturrock was a decent appointment, but at the end of the day we couldn't afford to keep paying his wages....

Given that Orient are doing better than us right now.....getting Ling would be quite an achievement.

Although Reg, Fitton has said that he is willing to look for somebody who is currently working and therefore willing to pay compo! And depsite him saying that he is going to throw money away surely he will still know that SOME money has to be spent. Bear in mind also that some of the manager's that have thrown their names into the hat are not half bad for this league yet he may (by his own admission) be willing to pay out compensation for somebody else (somebody better)

In saying that though I agree that we shouldn't all expect for us to be spending ton's in the transfer market, just what is neccessary and we are probably not far of that already. So maybe a couple of decent permanent signings with a loan kitty on top.

Fitton's crew will have had to spend a tidy sum, on clearing debt and buying out Diamandis etc.  for which I'm eternally grateful.

Lets imagine that we pick up 500K for Brez, then that sort of money can then be used to strengthen.if its in the hands of a bright manager.

Which will automatically make our financial situation a whole lot different surely: how much money from previous sales was re-invested into the squad?

What's more is that he has said himself that we no longer need to sell our players, which suggests to me that he is willing to spend a bit although it is clear that he isn't going to break the bank.
