Fitton has said now in the press that he wont be throwing money at this.....the line if we could get a an extra 1500 on the gate, then we could get better players.....is straight out of the Devlin/Holt lexicon of around 2003/04.
In order to stabilise finances, then its likely we'll see cuts...again something Fitton implies.
Getting someone of top pedigree is just going to be beyond us......Sturrock was a decent appointment, but at the end of the day we couldn't afford to keep paying his wages....
Given that Orient are doing better than us right now.....getting Ling would be quite an achievement.
Although Reg, Fitton has said that he is willing to look for somebody who is currently working and therefore willing to pay compo! And depsite him saying that he is going to throw money away
surely he will still know that
SOME money has to be spent. Bear in mind also that some of the manager's that have thrown their names into the hat are not half bad for this league yet he may (by his own admission) be willing to pay out compensation for somebody else (somebody better)
In saying that though I agree that we shouldn't all expect for us to be spending ton's in the transfer market, just what is neccessary and we are probably not far of that already. So maybe a couple of decent permanent signings with a loan kitty on top.
