without doubt they were heavy handed as one sting would have been more than sufficient( if needed at all), the trouble is that Yanks and Canadians issue Tasers and Firearms to all officers and not all officers are suitable to carry them. The British firearms teams are carefully selected for their calmness and passive nature and the actual course sorts the wheat fron the chaff

The British police are prone to screw up. Taking the Jean Charles de Menezez incident for example.

Who was wearing a rucksack,on the underground, and failed to stop running when instructed to by the police.A sad incident but he would be alive today if he had listened and done what he was told.

What is not in doubt , I believe, is that he was here illegally, having outstayed a student visa

Got the right result in the end then!  Cheesy

it goes without saying that it wasn't intentional. i just think it's a fine line between police using unneccesary force and whether tasers really are a safe alternative to carrying firearms?

i quite like the idea of police walking around firing tranquiliser darts out of little pipes.

It's his own fault isn't it?

I mean, going on a bus when you're diabetic is asking for trouble.

He could have been a terrorist with a bomb or something...................

Mr Gaubert said he was told the police believed he looked "Egyptian".

not that the police like to judge people by race......

If police were given tazers you'd see them at nearly every football match. Fucking stupid.

you know it will happen though. At least with batons you can guage how badly its going to effect someone. If your going around giving people electric shocks though you don't know about a heart or any other condition.

If he was in possesion of a bomb and had activated it the public would have asked why the officers didnt react quickly enough .

Yeah, maybe the police thought he was ringing the 'My bomb won't detonate 24 hour helpline.' After all he'd been there for 10 hours and couldn't speak English, what else were the police to think other than his bomb wasn't working. It was obvious that he was getting agitated because he'd been listening to terrorist jazz hold music for so long.
