this question has never been answered.
if they desperately need someone to take over and pay debts, why didn't they do business with power?
what is their reason for this and why did the relationship with power-devlin and the board break down?

This question has been asked a lot. Diamand Mike would rather close the club down than let fans (and Trust) have some control. Remember that if the Trust offer was accepted, then he would not get any money from the sale oif the club, as teh Trust would buy the club at cost price only.

They have never stated how much they want for the club though publically, but Diamandis will not deal with the Trust & Co though anyway he's made that clear with his thoughts on the Trust

Is Power still even in the equation? Has he got the funds to cover the kind of figures being bandied about?

The Fans Consortium are still there. Waiting for a call from SSW. Bill P will NOT go it alone. He is there backing US, the fans. I undersatnd he was talking to SSW, but as soon as Diamnadis heard it was stopped

It appears that the sticking point is in the Wills family's insistence on having their loans repaid to them.  The owners of a business would normally be expected to take any losses on the chin, but the Wills appears to want any new owner to pay back off their loans as part of the sale...in effect, asking the new owners to fund the club's losses over the Wills family's period of ownership.

The best guess we have as to why the Wills family are insisting on this repayment is that they are rumoured to have mortgaged some or all of their land to raise the cash in the first place.

If the loans are not repaid to them, they lose the land...and James Wills sees his inheritance go up in smoke.  There is a certain irony here, given that the Wills family made its money from tobacco in the first place.

[All of the above is based on hearsay, by the way.]

It's got to be about transparency, the Power and the Trust would be very up front in making sure everyone knows exactly what has happened if they are able to gain control of the club.

They said they spoke to other parties but chose BEST because the seemed to have 'the club's best intentions at heart' more than the others.  To me it seems that BEST were perhaps the only interested party that would not necessarily try to bring the old board down by publicly coming out with the truth.
