My GCSE's were mediocre at best (can't even remember what I got now, suffice to say they were poor) - I escaped from Westbury, knuckled down in Higher Education, eventually managed to get into uni (despite doing a pointless course in hindsight) and am now embarking on a Masters degree.

But your a Melksham kid (that's George Ward right?) so that's pretty good  Wink

I jest.... kind of.

Not having a pop or anything, but are you in a wheelchair?

When I was at school, as long as you turned up with your shorts and could run, the minimum you got was a C.......

Thats harsh, many disabled people can do sports, fucking hate it when people have a go at the disabled.

Bushy, sometimes you are such a twat!

Where was I having a go at anyone?

Go and count your money or something.........................

This is great!

No jealously in that comment at all!

Jealous?

Bushy owns his own business, drives a beemer and is apparently minted.

Why would I be jealous?

I work for someone else, drive a fucked up Renault and haven't got a pot to piss in.

I'm sure you can see that jealousy was the last thing on my mind................................

only talking from personal expirence, but Maths course work was piss easy.

Got straight 8s on all three pieces I did
I got an A* in maths, then a B at A-level, but found the GCSE coursework really hard! I guess it's just the way your mind works!

Exams don't seem to me to be a true test of intelligence - more a test of those who get their head down and work.  I went to a decent secondary school and college and so was pushed through my exams and subsequently got very decent results....  Get to uni, and no one on my back forcing me to get my head down, and I struggle.  I'm dreading my third year....   :|

And that sums up the education system Rus.

However, I would like to think that once my daughter gets to an age that she is at Uni then she would be motivated enough in herself to want to work.

That is not meant disrepectful to you mate, some people can motivate themselves and some people need to be motivated............we are all different mate

I had exactly the same thing as Walrus. After the first 2 years at Uni I was on for a third after getting good A-Levels, then I did a year's 'Industrial Placement' and realised I could get up in the mornings and do a good day's work and went on to get a first for my final year, giving me a 2:1 overall.

Just got to find some way to motivate yourself and it's easy, it's just finding that motivation that's the problem.

The amount of coursework we were given was ridiculous.
But I only did it for the lessons I liked really.
I basically couldn't be assed.

I'm guessing you didn't bother with the English coursework either?
