Anyone recommend anywhere in Swindon that'll do a good job for relatively cheap?
It's a diesel anyway so all it will be is new oil, new filter and a general check over.

Do it yourself if it's just filters and oil. I'll lend you some sockets, a filter wrench, a trolley jack, something to catch the oil in and a tub of Swarfega. You can buy your own Haynes manual though.

Which is fine until you want to sell the car and they ask for the service history...

Which is fine until you want to sell the car and they ask for the service history... And then you produce the receipts for the materials/oil/anti freeze/brake fluid for the service. I have always done this and tbh buyers seem to be more impressed that you have done it yourself (as in taken a bit of responsibility and care rather than passing it off to some 16 year old twonk in the local greasy rag).

My grandad always used to take his to the garage to get serviced and he was a mechanic Depends who to trust I guess. If someone produced all the materials receipts, rather than service receipts I'd try and knock a fair few quid off.

I sold our Nissan Serena to a dealer with 70,000 miles worth of self service receipts. He almost wet himself that somebody had bothered to service the fucking thing and could prove it. And he gave me book price.
