Feel for you Sam. Second hand cars are always a bit of a lottery. Good luck getting money out of the cunts!

Bad luck Sam, poor deal on that one- I'm eternally grateful to have paid an extra few quid to get a main dealer used car with 2 more years warranty.

pugs are renowned for bad brakes, ie quick wear and regular disc and pad replacements. the clutch quote is mighty high imo. in the future go to an independant reccomended garage that people can tell you they have used for servicing and repairs. also i'd get in touch with trading standards after checking the sale terms of the car, if the dealer doesn't play ball if i were you .

The dealers website says all cars have pre-sale inspections which includes brakes. I can't believe they've worn 95% in 3 and a bit months.
I'm not going to rest until he does something to put it right, he obviously knows the history of the car because it was his wifes! He sounded so sheepish on the phone.

yeah 3 months is way to quick for brake wear like you have described,if checks had been made. just make as many threats as you can legally. i'd go for full repairs or money back first and see what he says. how old is the car and whats on the clock sam?

It's five years old, 84000 miles.
From looking at the service history, it's been reasonably well looked after and has already had the clutch replaced on 50,000 miles.
I'm also sure Peugeot have a 5year/90,000 mile clutch warranty on the 307's, so that'll be my plan B.

plus the mileage is high,so problems will crop up. still, dont give up easily as matey obviously didn't check the brakes so i'd assume other checks were not made either

peugeots are nothing but trouble for me, well french cars in general.
I bought mine from arriva ford (weird i know being a peugeot) and it was fine and dandy untill the warranty ran out.
In 2 years i have had
Full Breaks repacement (pads/discs etc etc) Full exhaust replacement About to have the 2 cooland fans replaced tomorrow Pluss other bits and bobs
We're looking about a grand in 2 years, on top of that services/mots etc, its fucking shit.
And sam they are rippying you off on the flywheel, No more that 500 quid IIRC on my clio, still alot i know but no way £1200

That is deeply shitty sam. Garages are notortious IMO for trying to rip you off for extra work. If you can find someone reliable, I would seriously get a second opinion on what you have been told. I remember taking my old Astra to a Vauxhall dealer for a service, and almost landed up with a bill of around 1000 quid for work they deemed necessary. I took it to two separate garages for a second/third opinion, and both determined that Vauxhall were talking out of their arse on all counts. Good luck on trying to sort out the bloke who sold it though, be persistent because you have rights as the consumer. If all else fails, CAB may be the next option, and the threat of Watchdog never fails either.

The replacement flywheel story is a load of old bollocks Sam.
Flywheels don't wear out on cars, especially at that sort of mileage.
The most it will need is a new clutch cover, plate and thrust bearing.
And clutches don't wear out in 25k miles either. Not unless somebody has had their foot on the pedal all of the time.

Not unless somebody has had their foot on the pedal all of the time. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=peugeot+307+flywheel&btnG=Google+Search&meta=It's a common problem Al, dual mass flywheel made from low grade materials so it just breaks up and warps out of shape. Just picked the car up, doesn't actually mention anything about the flywheel on the mechanics notes . :? The guy on the serive desk also said that the engine management fault is a Particulate Filter at a cost of £320 when: a) I can see from past receipts that the particulate filter was replaced on 60,000 miles at a cost of £119.80 and b) The mechanics notes say the fault is an intermittent problem with the diesel additive pump. I'm definitely going to take it to a mate of mine for a second opinion.
