You do realise Newcastle is over an hour away from Carlisle, don't you? Takes 40 minutes from Carlise to Newcastle - I used to live in Carlisle. And I used to drive from High Wycombe to Carlisle with a 20 minute p1ss and KFC stop in a about 4 and a quarter hours (approx 280 miles I think). Not sure how much to add on that from Swindon but i wouldnt imagine it would be much. I used to do the trip every 2 weeks or so and would suggest that whatever time you believe it will take you, leave at least an hour earlier as there is always at least one 40 miles an hour section on the M6 and they can go on for some distance too! Really does slow down the journey! Longest it ever took me though was 6 hours and I must have done the trip about 50 times so I wouldn't budget on it taking much longer. |

Doable in a day Bushey...but trust me, you will be fuckin knackered afterwards.
B&b is cheapish at about £20.00 for the night when i was up there last year. And Carlisle town centre is alright for a nights jolly as well.
