Sorry a bit random, but doews anyone know of any good free anti-virus software, rather than pay £40 or £50 for mcafee or norton.

AVG. I read a PC magazine where they tested various anti-virus programs. Norton and McAfee actually came out pretty badly, AVG wiped the floor with them. It really makes me angry that unsuspecting punters are talked into shelling out tons of money on anti-virus software in PC world, when you can get better software for free!

i've always had norton and its done me fine.but after reading this(my renewal is due soon)i am interested in AVG.how do i get it?is it simple to use.etc,etc??

I use a zonealarm internet security on my machines, which a very long subscription somehow found its way onto.
