I love bron slippy - on the live album that into Rez is amazing.  Best song ever is so subjective though, personally I love the whole of Simple things by zero7, it's my favouite album but I expect very few people like it let alone rate it as the 'best'.  At the river by groove armada, and gouryella by gouryella are two of my other al time favourite tunes.

on another note, rolling stone by bob dylan has to be up there aswell.

dylan's rolling stone is a classic and a great piece of writing - but i think hendrix did a much better version of it, so the song itself is excellent, but still depends on performance.

i might provisionally go for little fluffy clouds by the Orb - since i can't imagine anyone covering it better, but then the old nostalgia factor of it reminding me of the outback in Oz may cloud the judgement.  Bohemian Rhapsody must also be up there in the 'can't possibly be improved' status.

actually, i don't know

Perhaps we need a couple of categories, as Underworld and Prodigy that people mention are class tracks, but not "songs"?

Therefore, imo

Best song - Massive Attack, Unfinished Sympathy
Best track - Grace, Not over yet (the proper original 12" version!)

good shout with rocky - any man that can run up a set of steps whilst humming that without punching the air at the top has likely jumped over a puddle on his way there methinks !

Best dance song ever released was Cafe Del Mar 98.

No arguments. It's the best.

I get immense nostalgia when i hear it. Reminds me of sunny holidays with mates and boozy summers.

You have to go a long way to beat the original release of Insomnia from Faithless, the one with the Pompey Chimes on - not the sped garage remix that was out late 90's.
