It's ali about influence in my eyes.

I think it has to be 60's 70's. Music today is a whole different kettle of fish and is more business than music. I personally believe 90% of the stuff churned out post nirvana is pretty toss with the odd exception of bands like Sound Garden, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins...

At least back then alot sounded fresh, nowadays it's faux retro and sounds too samey. But eh? I don't really like rock anyway, so i should shut the fuck up and let those in the know add their two peneth.

How can you be in a band and think the most influental british band ever are shit? I'm not even a massive beatles fan, but their influence on modern music is there for all to see , even today.

Do your band sound like droney american rock / metal by any chance?

You can do what you like. I'd have though someone who is into music could at least appreciate the influence they have had on modern music, along with other bands at that time as well

I assume your band sound like american metal as you think eveything is shit and gernrally post like a miserble teen

And bang goes what was an intelligent discussion with a generalisation of metal.

Damn fine question, but I think from a purely academic viewpoint the 50's should be included......because the likes of the Beatles and Stones were so heavily influenced by stuff they were listening from the R and B bands, and artists.

Skiffle, rock and roll, and rockabilly were also formative. and somewhat neglected now.

Completely agree Reg - but still for me it was the late 60's early 70's too - festivals were still relatively uncommercial (well some were), live music was still accessible to most that wanted it, and the bands I saw back then my lad still feels are better than most today!

i think every decade has its ups and downs. im my opinion the 70s was best torwards the end.....80s the start, 90s middle (94-96 the best), etc.
