So many old regulars seem to be falling by the wayside.

Shame really, there are far more posters I would rather leave than Chalkies Cheesy

Lee "Scratch" Perry in London tonight.
Fuck me, 83 and still going strong.

Not expecting much in the way of vocal quality.
Being in the presence of legend and genius is enough.

He must have smoked some shit in his time.
Still, good enough for him, good enough for the next potential PM.

As an aside, didn't someone on here mention that they had tickets for Download (one of the Wooly's maybe)?
A bit muddy at the site by all accounts with people packing it in before the festival started.
A wet and muddy Glastonbury will be good fun.
A far cry from the early 70's when Reg could run around the site stark bollock naked and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Paul Weller at Westonbirt arboretum last night. He was brilliant which is more than I can say for Cross St cabs who not only managed to not turn up (taxi booked two days previously) but left us stranded.

Liked the look of the setlist for that, interesting that he played nothing from his latest album. I'm guessing he thought the accoustic nature of it made it better suited to a smaller venue. Good to see the usual scattering of Jam and Style Council tracks ending with what now seems to be the traditional barn storming finale of Town Called Malice.

Looking forward to seeing him in Thetford Forest next week.

Yep I think your interpretation of the set list is pretty much spot on.
Hope you enjoy Thetford 👍

Anyone remember attending gigs in the little venue within the Link Centre in the late 80’s? Saw The Popguns, Seers, Chesterfields, King of the Slums amongst others. Good early indie education!

Hah, yes. Saw the Catherine Wheel there and a Swindon band whose name escapes me. Had "pagan" in the name and also saw them in the pub opposite the station once.

Ah yes. They were pretty good from what I remember.
An eye catching violin player!

Random names are starting to pop into my head now.
Hamsters from Hell. Ian Dosser?

Dozier, I think.
On Pagan Fringe, they released a cassette which is really quite accomplished. Seem to remember them losing out in the south west final of battle of the bands  at The Wyvern to some poodle haired rock band from Bristol, cue angry shenanigans from the Swindon spectators!
What was your band called Saxondale? I remember a punk band called Cut Throat Razor and another that went by the name of 81-20 Auto Defrost or something: a microwave reference I believe!
