I'm not having a pop at the fella here, as I support the fans consortium and support his backing of it also. I've not met him or anything but through the media he comes across as a genuine, open bloke who loves his football. It just occured to me that I dont really know that much about him.

A few questions about his background though - Am I correct in thinking he made his money through satelite communications?  What was his company called, when did he sell and how much for?

And what was his involvement at QPR?  I'm sure I read something about him being actively involved within the club rather than just a sleeping investor.  So what his position, and what was his remit?

Can't remember the name of the company (would have to look it up and don't have time atm), and IIRC don't believe a figure was revealed. More than a quid though. Cheesy

He was a shareholder, investor and latterly chairman

He purchased a small but significant shareholding in QPR before being appointed Chairman after becomming quite regulalry involved.  He then purchased a further tranche of shares pushing him to around 25% I think.  He then worked with Palladini before a Consortium (Dunga and friends) from Monaco invested, at which point he was removed as Chairman and sold his shares.

Found this after a quick goggle search:

Bill Power retired in 2005 as Operations Director of Datasat Communications, a company based
in Chalfont St Giles, that specialises in the building and installation of commercial
satellite up and downlinks.

He joined the board in July 2003 after reportedly buying £200,000 worth of QPR
Holdings plc shares. Shortly after this, in a meeting with the LSA, club chairman
Nick Blackburn described his investment as being "dead money" as far as the club
was concerned. In 2005 Power acquired further shares from Chris Wright and in
August 2005 he told Boardroom Blues that he currently owns about 18% of the
total number of issued shares.

Cheers

Datasat still looks a strong company, makes a lot of money even if y/e 30/06/06 seems to have been a below par year.
