for no real reason I was looking at past league tables.

In the 04/05 season when we finished 12th, we actually conceeded more goals than we did in the 05/06 season when we finished 23rd and got relegated!

Also we scored 20 less and our goal difference was -17 worse...

But it's all relative to how many you score, isn't it. You could keep a clean sheet every game of the season, but if you don't put the ball in the onion bag, you're most likely going to be relegated (on 46 points).

Edit: Not that i'm suggesting that it's possible. God, imagine how boring it would be watching 0-0's all season
