"Leeds admit breaking League rules

Dennis Wise's Leeds outfit could face FA sanctions
Leeds could face disciplinary action from the FA after admitting they broke Football League rules by fielding six loan players at Burnley in November.
Graham Stack, Matt Heath, Ugo Ehiogu, Tresor Kandol and Geoff Horsfield all played as Leeds lost 2-1, while Tony Warner was an unused substitute.

League rules say the maximum number of loanees in a match-day squad is five.

But a club statement read: "We will co-operate fully on this matter and explain the extenuating circumstances."

saw this somewhere some very good points

This is where the FA stand or die by their rules.

Last season in non league (under standardised rules) a club fielded an ineligible player (exactly as Leeds have done). They lost 3-0. They were fined 10% of their turnover and had a points deduction of 6 points.

In another case a club fielded an ineligible player for 5 matches, they won 1 and lost 4. The FA gave them a points reduction of 3 points per match PLUS all points won during the period.

There's zero chance of Leeds getting owt but a fine for this......Bates is part of the old school network.....he was on the committee that relegated us two divs.

This network always looks after its own.

If Leeds United knew they were breaking the rules then they should be punished to the rules of the game.

The quote above suggests they didn't know - but if they had such dire extenuating circumstances (which they do not) then why didn't they mention it before the game?

Even we didn't make that mistake when we had loads of loans last season.

They're in a relegation battle therefore if they get off lightly other teams will complain.

That thought occurred to me.....with all the toings and froings last season, somebody must have kept a check on the rulebook......could it have been Sandy Gray?

I remember there was one game where Iffy specifically said somebody had been left out because there were too many loan players. Can't think who it was though
