And wtf was Sssssssandy Gray on about?

"Although we must now secure a new sponsor, it is great to know that we will continue to have a healthy dialogue with Nationwide going forward!"

Huh? how does that work then if they've ended their sponsorship with us?

To be fair the the VAT wizard I think she probabbly means match / ball sponsorship or corporate entertaining and stuff like that. sponsorship on a smaller scale.

I think it was a pretty pathetic deal anyway wasn't it? I think there are almost certainly Conference clubs with better deals.
Doubt it. Werent we getting a six figure sum every year?

or, the way things are going, the nationwide conference...

ahhh, i jest.

i think it was a reasonably good deal that we had with them, and was re-negotiated when we were league 1 so any new deal will probably be inferior (though having said that i know fuck all about sponsorship deals)

The unthinkable has happened! We will no longer have the blue box across our shirts!!!

I have only ever had Swindon shirts with Nationwide written on them so this is a big thing for me! I hope the next sponsor doesn't have some ridiculous logo that will ruin our strip, althouhg maybe there are slightly more important factors to consider!

Nationwide paid peanuts for the sponsership anyway.

Infact another company will come in and probably pay more

What is "peanuts", Dan?

Can you elaborate?

I'm interested to know how much effect the withdrawal of this sponsorship deal will have on the finances if nobody else comes in?

why would nobody else come in? are you suggesting we'd become the only club in the 92 to not have a shirt sponsor?

no mark

* looks for "shrug" smilie but finding none doesn't bother posting one *

It is a question of profile and level of sponsorship, isn't it?

Nationwide is actually quite a cool brand and an inherently implicit name to have on the front of your players' shirts.

Sure, we could have "Johnston's Paints" for 2/6 a year (that's two shillings and six old pence for younger readers).

But the brand is all in this day and age. I think it is a sad loss tbh. How many other nationals - or multinationals - are going to pour dosh into Swindon Town Football Club given today's news?

What on-the-ball business wants to put sponsorship money into an unaccountable black hole?

Ok then, I'll pop down to Rodbourne and have a word with the owner of Ron's Stores. I'm sure he will go a fiver for a year's worth...

PS are you calling me a "no mark" by the way?

He's calling no one a no mark.  It's his 'thing' to copy and paste other stuff, mainly from thisis, and post it as his own.  Wacky.

Yep £1004.56 - that's Sandy Gray's 6 figures (in fact she might even count the pound sign as a figure!)
