"Schofield's comments on City's style come as the Imps are once more reunited in battle with former Rushden boss Barry Hunter.
The ex-Reading defender has joined his former Royals team-mate Williams as his assistant.
Hunter was less than complimentary about City during Keith Alexander's four-year reign,
admitting that his direct method of football 'made him feel physically sick'.
Some supporters still bear a grudge against Hunter for his comments, although Schofield chose to play down the soured relationship.
"We've all made comments in the past and sometimes you go on to regret those comments in the future," said Schofield.
"Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but you've got admire those managers who stick to their beliefs."
